Hair Loss Process

The causes of hair loss are, among others, the lack of some vitamins and minerals, hormonal alterations or hormones themselves, such as dihydrotestosterone in androgenic alopecia, stressful situations, incorrect or unbalanced diet, some drug treatments, the use of inadequate hair products or certain disorders such as seborrheic dermatitis, among others. These factors lead to the formation of proinflammatory cytokines that cause alteration of the extracellular matrix and degradation of the hair follicle, ultimately triggering hair loss. Deserves special attention the case of seborrheic dermatitis, of unknown etiology, but which shares risk factors with alopecia: weakens the immune system, lack of certain nutrients, hormonal alterations, disorders of the nervous system and genetic factors. In addition, other circumstances that may induce it are stress or tiredness, extreme weather, oily skin, poor skin cleansing frequency, use of lotions containing alcohol or obesity. Related to seborrheic dermatitis, there is usually a noticeable scaling of the scalp and often also of the area of the eyelashes, eyebrows, beard, mustache, eyebrows, nasolabial folds and retroauricular area.
